Recently Ive been reading Hibernate in Action by Gavin King et al. , the developer/founder of Hibernate. One of my friends Dinesh and I are at loggerheads on whether CMP entities or an ORM tool is better for persistence. I've always defended ORM tools, for various reasons (low memory overhead, portability, no DataTransferObjects etc). I'll shortly be posting a detailed comparison of ORM and CMP entity beans - EJB2.1. (yeah, I know, EJB3.0 is great! :).
